I loved this book! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't put the book down until I finished it. Samantha Young recreated the story of Sleeping Beauty filled with high fantasy, magic, romance, and danger in her own way and it worked out really well. =)
The two main characters (Rogan and Wolfe) were awesome! Rogan is a strong and extremely loyal person, yet very stubborn. She definitely has a hard time letting go of the past, especially with what happened to her when she was young. I found Rogan to be a little annoying at times but through out the story, you can definitely see how much she's grown and matured. Wolfe Stovia! Ah, this guys is so swoon worthy! Seriously, who would not fall in love with someone like him? Wolfe is the Captain of the Royal Guard and was assigned to protect Rogan during her journey to find the cure to save her best friend Haydyn. He's smart, powerful, and caring when it comes to Rogan. Although he is the Captain of the Royal Guard, he has a secret of his own and does not want others to find out.
I am so glad this story did not have a love triangle. I love the bickering between Wolfe and Rogan. You can definitely tell it was going to end up all hot and steamy with them. There were times when I just wanted to knock some senses into Rogan so that she'll give in to her feelings about Wolfe, but at the same time I do understand her reasons not to.
The Phaedra world Samantha Young created was magical, and beautifully described, and yet at the same time dangerous and scary as Phaedra is thrown into chaos. This story will take you on an amazing, dangerous, and heart-felt journey. I am definitely looking forward to the next installment! I hope others will enjoy this story as much as I did. =)
I have yet to read anything by this author and I now can't wait to dive in!! Great review!
